The summer months are the time for celebrations of all kinds in the towns along the Romantic Road. A journey along the Romantic Road is particularly interesting and relaxing thanks to the interplay of wonderful natural experiences and the joy of celebrating historic city festivals. Whether day trips or longer vacation trips - the variety of offers in the 29 towns along the 460-kilometer route are incomparable and offer a wide range of choices for both nature lovers and those looking for festival events. Hiking around Fussen

If you are looking for a very special nature experience, a visit to Füssen at the southern end of the Romantic Road is a must. "Hiking is the king's delight" is the motto for everyone who would like to explore nature, architecture and hospitality on foot. Not only the two world-famous castles Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein connect the Wittelsbach family with Füssen and its surroundings. At the age of 24, the king laid the foundation stone for Neuschwanstein in 1869 - a sight that became known far beyond the country's borders. The Tegelberg was also a popular royal hiking destination. The royal family left buildings there such as the Tegelberghaus and the Berggasthaus Bleckenau, which originally served as hunting lodges for Ludwig's father Maximilian II. The Marienbrücke, which Maximilian had built for his wife Marie as an engagement present, offers an impressive view of Neuschwanstein. All of these places of remembrance of the Wittelsbach family pass through hikers on the 17-kilometre-long Tegelberg circuit.

Landsberger Wiesn folk festival

"O'zapft is!" is the motto again this year from June 16th to 18th and from June 22nd to 25th. On these two weekends, the people of Landsberg celebrate their popular folk festival, the "Landsberger Wiesn". Visitors can look forward to a varied festival program, entertaining rides and cozy hours in the marquee. From the Oktoberfest hype with popular rides, from bumper cars to chain carousels, with typical folk festival delicacies such as bratwurst and cotton candy and the traditional parade, the Landsberger Wiesn offers a variety of opportunities for all ages to celebrate together. A special highlight is the Ferris wheel. The musical offer in the marquee impresses with its wide program, from brass band music to hits and party sounds. On Sunday, June 25th, the big club parade will take place again.

Reichsstraßenfest Donauwörth

From July 19th to 22nd, the people of Donauwörth and their guests will experience the 23rd Donauwörther Reichsstrassenfest. No other date is requested as often as the Reichsstrassenfest. It is equally popular with citizens and guests. The city festival between tradition and modernity invites you to the Donauwörther Reichsstraße with its varied cultural and music program, but also with multifaceted culinary delights. Big and small, young and old get their money's worth at this event. Various hospitality zones, from the Heurigen to the beer garden to the multicultural offer, attract with a varied stage program. Numerous bands and bands entertain with a spectrum from folk music to rock 'n' roll, oldies to cover rock. Additional shows complete the program. The old town festival, the "festival of festivals" - as it is rightly called by many - characterizes the events in Tauberbischofsheim on the first weekend in July. The city organizes its traditional old town festival from July 7th. The city center is then transformed into a colorful festival mile of entertainment and gastronomy, which reflects the diversity of the municipal clubs and organizations involved. The bear tap-dances on four stages and in between at the Altstadtfest weekend. You can browse and haggle at the popular children's flea market on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. The flea market is the ideal place for bargain hunters and collectors. Hiking trails around Wertheim

There is a lot for nature lovers to discover on excellent hiking trails around Wertheim. The scenic paths offer pure nature. The landscape is extremely diverse. Meadows and forests, water and vineyards alternate. This makes hiking in and around Wertheim a varied pleasure. Again and again, benches with a beautiful view of the Main and Tauber valleys invite you to rest. Great sights along the route are castles, palaces and monasteries. The Taubertal panorama trail from Bronnbach via Wertheim to Freudenberg or the Main hiking trail through vineyards, past the Triefenstein monastery to Kreuzwertheim are particularly interesting and recommended.

    Echt coole Ideen! Mich würde ja der Weitwanderweg echt reizen, aber 500 km sind schon ein Wort…Aber vielleicht in Etappen und Stückchenweise, auch eine Idee. Danke für den Denkanstoß!
