By bus along the Romantic Road - this means of transport has been transporting hundreds of thousands of travelers on the route between Würzburg and Füssen since 1950. The Romantic Road Bus will be running again this year, bringing visitors from all over the world to the historic towns along the Romantic Road. He crosses the wonderful, varied nature along the holiday route. For the passengers, the view from the windows offers unforgettable impressions of the landscape passing by.
The bus rides along the Romantic Road are shared experiences. The bus driver is not just the driver of a car, he is an entertainer and answerer of questions in one person. And last but not least, traveling by bus is much more environmentally friendly than driving your own car.

For a day trip from/to Frankfurt, the Wertheim Village Outlet, the Franconian metropolis of Würzburg, the health town of Bad Mergentheim, the wine town of Markelsheim, the residential town of Weikersheim and of course Rothenburg o.d.T. worthwhile destinations for a day trip. Germany's oldest long-distance bus line connects the Romantic Road with the metropolises of Frankfurt am Main and Munich from May to October. Twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, there is a departure from Frankfurt in the morning in the direction of Würzburg, Rothenburg and Munich and in the reverse order.

Gerne erinnere ich mich an meine erste Fahrt mit dem „romantischen Bus“, wie ihn meine Oma nannte. Zusammen mit meiner Cousine sind wir von Feuchtwangen nach Schongau gefahren, wo wir von Tante und Onkel zum Verbringen der Sommerferien eingeladen waren. Ich habe diese Reise damals als sehr aufregend empfunden, waren doch alle Orte die wir passierten für mich Stöpsel unbekannt. Die Hostess im Bus hat unterwegs über jede Stadt erzählt, zuerst auf deutsch, dann auf englisch, das haben wir drei natürlich nicht verstanden. Beim Ausstieg am Bahnhof in Schongau haben wir Kinder noch Bonbons vom Fahrer erhalten, so dass wir uns schon auf die Rückfahrt nach Feuchtwangen freuten. Was ich auch nicht vergesse…an den Sitzen waren Schiebfenster in den Scheiben, jeder konnte die Luftzufuhr selbst regeln…das war ein cooles Gefährt!
Eine Reise mit dem Bus entlang der romantischen Straße klingt für mich nach einer wirklich guten Idee. Beine hochlegen und gemütlich mit dem Bus von einer Sehenswürdigkeit zum nächsten schönen Plätzchen reisen. In Zukunft würde ich mir definitiv eine solche Reise genehmigen.
Hallo Lukas, das ist tatsächlich die entspannteste Art entlang der Romantischen Straße zu reisen. Ab 08. Mai geht es immer sonntags in Frankfurt und München los. Neu ab diesem Jahr: Auf der Strecke von Frankfurt nach Rothenburg werden auf Wunsch verschiedene Weine der Markelsheimer Winzer zum probieren oder ggf. mit nach Hause nehmen im Bus angeboten. Regionale Produkte von Deutschlands Genussroute. Wir freuen uns auf Deinen Besuch!
Ich hatte ursprünglich einen Termin in Frankfurt am Main, für den mehrere Tage eingeplant waren. Da ich aber schon einen Tag früher als erwartet alles erledigt hatte, nahm ich mir die Zeit noch nach Rothenburg ob der Tauber zu fahren, bevor es wieder heim ging. Ich interessiere mich unglaublich für das Mittelalter, deswegen konnte ich mir das dazugehörige Kriminalmuseum natürlich nicht entgehen lassen. Wahnsinnig interessant und zugleich mega beängstigend, was es damals so für Foltermethoden gab. Insgesamt ein sehr schöner Ausflug. Ich wäre am liebsten noch länger geblieben, um noch andere Städte anzuschauen, aber man hat ja schließlich nicht für alles Zeit. Cool war, dass der Fahrer unterwegs Fotostopps gemacht hat und der Guide interessante Infos kurz und knackig rüber brachte.

I saw a lot of great things on my trip through Germany. But by far the most beautiful sight was Wertheim Castle, the ruins of a hilltop castle between the Main and Tauber valleys. It is one of the oldest castle ruins in Baden-Württemberg, but hasn’t lost its beauty over time. The way there and back was no problem thanks to the nice bus driver and his recommendations about the public transport. In addition to that, the trip was made interesting by a guide with a lot of good information.
